Millennia Designs - Mary Queen of Scots "Catte & Mouse" Needlepoint Kit

Mary Queen of Scots was a keen needlewoman and whiled away much of her 19 years imprisonment in England at her stitching. As with many of her tapestries, a deeper political message lies beneath the simple scene of a cat and mouse. The ginger cat is the red haired Elizabeth I of England, Mary, her captive plaything. Mary's cypher is also prominent. Surprisingly, a great deal of Mary's needlework survives to this day housed in the collection of the palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh, the Quee's official residence and Mary's home between 1561 and 1567.

The design is worked in tent or half cross stitch on a 12 count colour printed canvas. Kit also includes full instructions, needle and Appletons tapestry wool.
